‘The Boy In the Striped Pajamas’ by John Boyne, is probably one of the best books I’ve read in the past years. It’s a good quick read and a different look on WW II. I definitely recommend reading this book, it won’t take much of your time you should be done in, well less than a relaxing weekend.
Anyway during my weekly stroll through the Apple Trailer site, I saw that this book is going to be made into a movie. Which is a bit of a shame, when you read the book there is an element of suprise (when you read it you know what I’m talking about) For the first couple of chapters you’re not really sure what exactly is going on, because it’s from a child’s perspective.
Non the less after seeing the movie trailer, I’d say I would def go see this movie.
When Kimster was just a lil Kimmay, she never really played with Barbie, Skipper, Ken and all their friends. I guess I lacked the imagination to make playing with dolls fun. Instead I played with balls, Lego (which rules!) , knock-off Lego and with my cousins who had like every He-Man action figure in the catalogue. (you don’t need much imagination for that, just replay the episode you saw on tv) Really, my cousins’ room looked like friggin’ Eternia with castle Grey Skull and everything.Meanwhile all I had was the cheaper characters of the range, cause well my mom wasn’t wealthy so I worked with Orko and Battle Cat. And bwoy did I work it.
I guess deep down inside my mom was kind of upset that lil Kimster didn’t really play with the barbies and all that. I mean I had exactly 1 barbie, 1 ken and 1 skipper, but all they every did was play skeletor’s hostages. And then my mom’s savior entered the stage. At one point it turned out that He-Man had a twin, a girl named Adora. She too had the power of Grey-Skull, which in times of need turned her in to She-Ra. Since this is a Mattel series you know they came out with toys and the whole action figure range. And there you have it, Kimmy actually owned a doll! A real doll! Well okay it comes close enough to the definition of a doll, I mean she had real hair that I had to maintain to keep it silky smooth, she came with a comb and everything! She even had different outfits. I love my She-Ra doll, I must have kept her for over 10 years. I think my mom gave it away in the end which made me said as a teenager. Man was she a good rolmodel, hahahaha.
So this morning, I was flipping through YouTube and saw the had a load of She-Ra clips so in homage to the Princess of Power here’s a minisode.
By the way. The made the best cartoons and toys in the EIGHTIES!!
People that know me, can probably tell you that I don’t really have the physique of an athlete, and don’t look like someone who likes to workout. ‘Cause well let’s face it me, I’m a big chubby hump of mass.
I guess what they say is right, the don’t-judge-a-book-by-its-cover-thing thing , cause I know that ‘they’ say a lot of things.
Me, I like sports, I don’t watch a lot of spectators sports, keep up with a lot of leagues and ever since Ajax went downhill mid nineties I haven’t kept up with who plays where and who wins what. And hey, I go workout on a regular too, after all being cute and cuddly takes hard work and maintenance.
The only time I get really enthusiastic and watch a lot of games is when there’s a World/European Cup and … the Olympics! Winter or Summer games, it don’t matter! I love swimming, skating, hockey, volleybal, track & field. Bwoy I even get up early to watch that stuff live. Hence the lack of sleep the last couple of days, but it’s sooooo worth it! Makes me feel very patriotic. I mean we grumpy complaining Dutch RULE!! For such a little country getting all them plaques, WOW. I mean it even makes me want to train harder run that extra 10 minutes, or add 5 kg to the weights I’m trying to lift! Seriously I’m even thinking of taking up swimming laps or hey maybe even Judo (I have the posture for it)
Anyway I decided that next time Summer Olympics I want to be there, so if you want to hang out with me, say August 2012 you can find me in London.

Vote for change , yes you can, vote for Obama!
