Sarcasm IS a Science

As a frequent user of sarcasm and actually a big fan of her and sibling irony, I was quite interested when I read an article on nytimes.com that elaborates on this research.

“perceiving sarcasm, the smirking put-down that buries its barb by stating the opposite, requires a nifty mental trick that lies at the heart of social relations: figuring out what others are thinking”

Now I kind of understand, why people find it somewhat difficult to understand me :D.

Farewell Studentlife!

This week I waved goodbye to my last hold on real studentliving. I had to hand in my ‘OV-studentenkaart’.The HORRRRRRORRRRRRR!!! As of June 1st, according to IB-Groep I am no longer a student to them. They took the one thing I was truly going to miss as student. The pastel colored card, which gave me access to every public transportation vehicle available to mankind within the boundaries of Les Pays-Bas.

This is just that little bit of motivation to kick my butt and get college-being over with and graduate already!

DARN it, I miss my OV so much!

Can I get a Whoop-Whoop?!

Whoop Whoop!
Last Monday was sweet! Not only was it nice weather (which I had to spend in the library but I’m not complaining), but the Dutch won their first match in the so-called ‘Poule of Death’ with a whopping 3-0, from the worldcup holders Italy. Strangely this is not what made me ecstatic, nope, what got me over-the-moon-happy was that I heard that as of July 11th we too we’ll have the privilege to legally purchase an iPhone in Holland.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, although it’s still missing some specs that I would have love to be included, I’m now positive about getting one when it’s time to renew my program. On the downside though, the only telecom provider selling the iPhone is T-Mobile. Which is a pity cause I really like Vodafone. So I might be getting the iPhone in the States after all, you know with the dollar and all. Either way, ain’t it cool!?

Social Media in Plain English

Yeah ! Lee is back with another eye-opening fun to watch tutorial video in what social media really is.

I decided…

that I diggg this song. Take a closer look, it’s not the famous Ms. Knowles, it’s the slightly lesser known, trying to get a good singing career off the ground Solange Knowles. You know what, with this song and awesome music video, she just might pull it off and catch her own rays instead of standing in the shadow of Beyonce’s big hair.
