Hi, meet Ben Howard!

I stumbled upon this guy named Ben Howard today, (i’m kind of in the acoustic guitar playing singer songwriters lately) I really enjoy looking at the way he uses his guitar as an instrument. I’ve rarely seen anyone play like that … ever.
Ben is from South Devon which is a seaside town in the south of the UK. I’m very happy to have found out that Ben Howard will be coming by in the Melkweg  on the 6th of September. Along with another one of my favourite seaside living UK peeps Brighton’s (I’m in love with that city) own Fink.

Monday Morning Music: Esperanza Denswil

This is the kind of HipHop I like. Question is can you even call it hiphop I mean is that label sufficient for this kind of music? This here is Esperanza Denswil (I think that’s her last name), it’s light deep organic soulful flowful, heck, best you just listen to it. It kind of reminds me of a mashup between Me’shell Ndegeocello (when she raps), Bahamadia, Ursula Rucker fudge I dunno. It’s the kind of vibe I get when I listen to it. It’s more spoken word-ish than rap-ish with a dab of singing, follow me?

Just go to her MySpace and listen to that one (why one?) cut she has on there, and check out her item on 101barz below. She is currently working together with Sense to drop an EP A.S.A.P. Sense is working together with another one of my favorite producers Sotu the Traveller on a project called ‘Rise & Shine’.  The results of that has been circulating in my iTunes for some time and I liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike!

O yeah she’s performing at NuMoon fest (according to her MySpace account) in the Lantaren Venster Rotterdam on December 27 as well as Kimster P’s fave Ntjamrosie and La Melodia amongst a lot of others.

Monday Morning Music

The milk in the Grande Mocca Late is turning sour for the exclusive feel and experience of Starbucks Coffee. The caffeine addicts in the States have less dollars to spend on their coffee, so they’re letting the overpriced liquid goodness of the Seattle based siren slide and walking over to Dunkin’ Donuts for a cup of Joe and a chitchat with the friendly neighbourhood officer Krupke . Meanwhile over a couple of hundred Starbucks Coffee houses are closing yet Mc Donald’s Golden Arches are still visible on just about every street corner. So here’s Ronald all happy smiling his clownesque smile, and thinking ‘How am I going to get more people in my cholesterol death trap, when Oprah is getting people to do healthy?’ Then Hamburglar said ‘Hey why not open a Mc Cafe which has the feel of a Starbucks but with Micky D prices?’

There you have it Mc Cafe was born. I must admit after googling it, it looks very warm and inviting. You know what really got me liking this Mc Cafe concept (and the reason why this post is called ‘Monday Morning Music’) ? The musician who Ronald lured in to compose, write and sing the jingle is none other than DWELE!!!!

‘I know what you like to warm your lips up’ and ‘Mocca is all I need for my soul’ , Dwele can sure as hell introduce me to mocca. The way he sings that famous ‘bada pa pa pa’ oooweee has won me over.

Judge for yourself Dwele: “McCafé”

Monday Morning Music … MOVE!

WOW! What a freaking-ow-my-goodness COLD DAY!! But good day! Started with waking up to headache, washed my face, brushed my teeth, put on my training slacks off I went on my Monday Morning Workout.
And there you have it … this week is going to be a good week.

To kick off the good week, with some good tunes is my long gone but never forgotten and now returned favorite mc … Q-TIP! If you haven’t copped his album ‘The Renaissance’, I prefer you buy it but what the hey; download it, steel it, borrow it. I don’t care as long as you hear it and listen to it.

shhh … THA BOMB BABY!

ENJOY!! it’s THA BOMB BABY! Op naar een tijd dat Sylvana nog ‘Soul’ had en Kimmy ambities.
